Two Great British Easter Celebrations
Easter is a time of special significance to Christians everywhere. It signifies among other things the death of despair and the birth of new hope.
Mal Fletcher spent Easter Sunday speaking at two Easter celebrations - one in Bristol, the other in Cardiff, Wales.
In Bristol, Mal shared at a special service hosted by the Vintage Church group. A pioneer work, this congregation has brought together members of several churches in one new work. It's leadership, under Chris James with Peter Davies, is redefining the culture of the group and is already building toward a significant future.
The Easter celebration was held in a local cinema, the first time the venue had been used. It drew a number of people who had no affiliation with the church.
Mal's message on vision was hugely appreciated. After the event, he said: 'This is a church in seed form. It's not yet what it will become, but the core of its DNA is being shaped now and there's a hunger for community service and impact.'
Easter Sunday evening saw Mal and Davina travel to Cardiff for an event with Cardiff City Temple, a large and respected Elim church with a long record of outreach and other work in the community.
Led by Pastor Steve Ball, the church is in good health and has a range of generations involved.
Mal spoke about the source and impact of Christian hope. After the event, he said: 'This was my first time speaking in Cardiff - though I've done so in other parts of Wales many times. It was great to see that such an historic church has kept its feet firmly on the ground in its local community and is making a determined effort to reach its young student fraternity.'

I heard Mal speak at the Emerge Conference in Brisbane. Thanks for reminding us that Gen-Xers can create, build and mould the world NOW by being proactive rather than reactive.
