NWI: 'Serious4God' Gets Serious for God
It was a wintery and blustery February night on the outskirts of Birmingham, UK.
Two thousand young Brits were crowded into the Bethel Community Centre for a concert event with a difference.
The night was part of a weekend long music and ministry event called 'The Gathering', sponsored by Serious4God, an outreach ministry to young people across Britain.
Bands, a high-energy DJ and guest speaker Mal Fletcher all contributed to a night which will live on in people's memories for a long time.
When the music kicked off, the crowd were on their feet and cramming the front-of-stage area. When worship DJ Andy Hunter took to the stage, the atmosphere – and the temperature – warmed up even more.
Mal Fletcher followed with a hard-hitting message about the influence which is coming to the Millennial generation, and the strongholds which must be brought down to get it.
'There's no doubt that this Millennial generation is destined for major influence,' he said. 'The sheer size of the generation guarantees that it will make an impact.'
'Added to its size is the fact that this generation is more positive, hopeful and open to teamwork than either Generation X or the Baby Boom generation.'
'Getting to that influence will mean pulling down some generational strongholds along the way.'
Mixing comedy with thought-provoking comment, Mal outlined barriers to Millennial influence. These included the worship of celebrity, a preoccupation with lifestyle and the power of political correctness.
Mark Pugh, the leader of Serious4God reported that the message was in line with the direction his team had been taking in prayer for the event. He had privately told his leadership team that 'strongholds were going to come down' during the Saturday night event.
The weekend included a street concert, fun activities and much more. Other guests included Glyn Barrett of Audacious.

In a time of struggle and discontent in the world, Mal Fletcher is a light in the darkness that brings a positive outlook and God-expectant view to a critical and negative-casting media...

My highest respect for Mal Fletcher and team. I truly admire the work you do for the Lord. So relevant to secular as well as Christian society. Well done everyone.

Mal, we are inspired by your passion, and desire to see Christians rise up within their worldview and make a difference for the generations. God bless you!
