Network Communications, Business With A Difference

30 June 2010

The Network Communications conference 'The Gathering' brings together business people from across Australia who all share a common passion: to service and expand the Kingdom of God through the communications industry.

The conference took place in June on Australia's Sunshine Coast, and was hosted by Stephen Jeffs.

Network Communications is a national group of small to medium business owners who are associated with selling and service for the Optus telephone network.

Originally founded by Mike Jeffs, who also pioneered the Australian Christian Channel, a unique TV venture hosted on the Fox platform, the conference featured training and motivational sessions, along with an awards night honouring growing businesses and sessions outlining the vision of Network Communications and its affiliated organisations - including a number of highly successful charities.

Mal Fletcher was keynote speaker at this year's event. He spoke in various different sessions as a futurist, leadership developer and Christian leader, bringing insights into how people of faith can build strong business cultures and influence the cultural life and the future of cities.

Mal and his wife Davina enjoyed the warm hospitality of the Network Communications team and spent valued time with good friends Mike and Vivian Jeffs.

As the event wrapped up, Mal said: 'This is a business network with a huge difference!'

'They don't just "do charity" on the side: the whole of their enterprise is centred around improving the lives of men and women and families across the nation, in very practical ways.'

'Giving to community enhancement is a core part of their reason for being. They give huge amounts of money each year to works that are lifting people's lives, emotionally, financially and spiritually.'

'I'm impressed with their commitment to sowing into things that lie outside their corporate front door. Network Communications is, I think, a model for how these kinds of franchise businesses should be run - with growth going hand in hand with altruism.'
