Proclaimers Norwich Hungry For Influence

06 April 2009

Norwich England is one of the nation's oldest cities and the capital of its region.

It is also home to Proclaimers Church, a growing, thriving church with a strong outreach ministry into the community.

Led by Pastors Tom and Denise Rawls the church has grown to number around 700 people in just 4 years. Tom and Denise have built around them a strong and young leadership team and the church reflects the creativity and passion found in the leadership.

On a recent visit to speak in the church, Mal Fletcher found a group of people who share one great passion: to influence their entire city with the message of Christ, transforming lives and cultures.

Mal spoke to the church about the need, during recessionary times, to be the 'city on a hill' Jesus spoke about.

'In a world of constant change,' said Mal, 'people are looking for a landmark – one unchanging reference point amidst a storm of change. That is the role of the church.'

'When Jesus likened his church to a “city on a hill”,' he added, 'I think he meant that the church should be, in microsmic form, what the city could become, if it lived under the values of God's kingdom.'

'This kind of witness is never more important than in the tough times.'

Mal addressed some of the areas in which the church needs to 're-dig the wells' of its influence, in order to be a voice to hurting people.
