Launching Into Documentaries - Edges with Mal Fletcher

04 March 2001

Production of 'EDGES with Mal Fletcher' series 4 is almost complete.

After almost a year of production, the final programs in this awesome new series are approaching their final cut!

'EDGES with Mal Fletcher' has built a solid audience since its inception just 4 years ago. It is now showing on cable, satellite and free-to-air TV in over 60 countries.

Mal is often approached by people in the street in various countries, people who claim they don't normally watch 'Christian TV', but who find these programs captivating and very watchable. Cab drivers, people in hotels and on train stations .... people in many settings want to talk about the affect the programs have on them.

'We're trying to present a positive Christian perspective on social issues,' says Mal, who functions as presenter as well as executive producer. 'We just want people to know that Christian teaching does have something to say on the issues they face in the 21st century; that they need to take another look at what the Bible is telling us about the world and our place in it.'

Tina Meyer, producer of the program, was with Mal in llate March for the filming or special half-hour documentary on Christianity in Munich, featuring the story of John Angelina, a rock musician who has built a great church in this historic city. This program is one of three specials made as part of the new 'EDGES' series. Another of the specials features the story of the unique 'Copenhagen Christian Culture Centre' built by the pentecostal church in the capital of Denmark. This centre is already starting to have an impact not only on the Christian scene in the nation, but in the culture of its city.

The programs can be seen across Europe on the Christian Channel (God Channel), in the USA on FamilyNet, in Australia on the Australian Christian Channel and in Denmark on KKR-TV and TV2.

Talks are underway looking at the possibility of broadcast on Crossroads network in Canada and on mainstream free-to-air TV in Australia. Other broadcasters are also seeking access to the programs.
