EuroLife Church Breaks New Ground In Denmark

07 December 2006

Denmark is perhaps best known for Hans Christian Andersen, Tivoli Gardens and the little mermaid. Many people who've visited Denmark's churches over the years have commented that in this nation 'small is cool'; that large or influential churches will struggle to get a foothold here.

EuroLife Church in Arhus, Denmark's second largest city, is already proving those ideas to be wrong!

Led by Pastor Linda Wilson, head of Linda Wilson Ministries International, the church is only a couple of years old but has already outgrown one venue and is breaking the mold when it comes to the presentation of church life.

Mal Fletcher visited the church for the second time in December and found a group of people who are passionate about bringing a new breed of Christian outreach, combining excellence with uncompromising faith, to their city and nation.

After speaking to an extended leadership dinner on Saturday evening and at church on Sunday afternoon, Mal said: 'It's only a year since I was here last, but there's already a noticeable growth in terms of the confidence levels of the leadership team and their passion to prove the cynics wrong.'

'Linda and her team have put everything on the line for this vision and they're already demonstrating what faith, courage and commitment can achieve -- against the odds.'

'The Sunday meetings are now at a whole new level, with music, media and a general atmosphere of faith that are so rare in this part of the world.'

The Saturday leaders' session featured Mal's teaching on 'Relevant, Radical and Revolutionary Church' followed by a long question session.

Of all the Scandinavian nations, Denmark has seen the least action in terms of church growth and national religious movements.

'Davina and I lived in Copenhagen, the nation's capital, for almost ten years,' Mal added. 'We're both thrilled to see the seeds here in Arhus of a whole new breed of church. I believe it will be a model for many others in time to come.'

'I encourage all of our friends and anyone who has a passion to see Europe's spiritual climate change, to pray for this dynamic new church.'

Pastor Wilson said: 'We appreciate so much that Mal is able and willing to invest his valuable time and experience into this church.'
