Euro Church Planters Meet in Brighton

30 July 2006

Brighton, England, has long bee recognised as one of the seaside beauty spots of Europe, with architecture dating back to Victorian times and a beach front ideally suited to holiday makers.

In July, the Christian Outreach Centres of Europe held their summer conference in Brighton. Mal Fletcher was one of the featured speakers in the main sessions.

The COC movement, born in Australia, has grown into a major force in church planting in several regions of the world. Under the leadership of Pastor Ashley Schmierer, it has established a strong and growing presence in parts of Europe over the past 13 years.

Mal's challenging messages on the Church of 2020 were delivered in his characteristically passionate, thought-provoking and entertaining style and were very well received.

After the event, Mal said: 'I am always happy to stand with anyone who has real faith that Europe can be changed.'

'The leaders of this movement have proven their commitment to Europe by the significant inviestment of people and finance they've made into the continent.'

'Judging by their passion, I can see that this is just the beginning.'

Leaders at the conference of around 1000 people came from a number of nations including Germany, Iceland, the Scandinavian region, France and more. Others had come from the USA and Canada.

Ashley Schmierer sent a message to Mal which read: 'You are doing a great work in Europe and I pray that God will give you much success in raising up men and women to be a voice for Godly change in Europe...'

Pray for more church pioneers in Europe!
