Extending Our Influence

Isaiah 54:2: 'Enlarge the place of your habitation, do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes.'
God has a sphere, or zone, of influence for every Christian to fill. God wants us 'extend' (literally to stretch, or broaden) the area we cover – the territory we touch with our lives. The Father wants every Christian to do three things. Firstly to 'enlarge' our lives – to stretch to fill our zone of influence, to find out where God has called us to make changes, then to declare and defend that. He also wants us to 'lengthen our chords'. In Isaiah's time, tent covering were laid over cords strung between poles. The longer the cords, the more covering could be applied and the larger the 'house' beneath. We need to prepare our lives to contain more of the covering of God's favour. Finally, God wants us to 'strengthen our stakes' – to get the 'pegs' of our faith more firmly into the foundation of his promises.
Prayer: 'Lord, help me today to enlarge my life, to stretch for even greater influence. Help me to get ready for more of your favour in my life. And please help me to get my faith even deeper into the promises you've made to me.'
